The sounds of Reality....
I've been meaning to make a post about the music selections in Reality, but really just haven't had the time ... well I'm making the time.
Reality launched the largest Creative Commons search in the history of the net - I kid you not! We compiled a massive database of songs we were allowed to use, over 40,000 in total. Poor Dana busted an eardrum going through it all ... looking for the cream of the crop, the best of the best. You would simply not believe how many songs we listened to in preparation for this DVD!
Several great songs were turned down ... mainly because we didn't just want a one-hit-wonder, we wanted actual bands. Real musicans that cared for their work and were not in it for the fortune or fame, artists like myself. In the end ....
Steven Maxwell: We used a song he wrote 'Sometimes' for the two trailers, I personally really dig the tune - 80's glam guitar rock with awesome lyrics. You'll find he is a talented artist with a lot of passion for what he does.
Henry Correy and the Correydors: An awesome blues track 'Hooked on You' was used for the opening credits. Blues music seemed perfect to match the scenes of me hitchhiking to Myrtle Beach. The first time we heard this song, we wanted to hear it again - it is very catchy.
The Dying Embers: Last but not least, one of my new favorite bands ... these guys know how to rock! The hardest part of using their music was deciding which song to use - they are all great tracks! We ended up using 'Trouble In Heaven' for the closing credits.
