Silent sendoff
Today was the last day of my Barefoot Landing contract ... it ended without all the fan fair I had planned, pretty much just quietly slipped away.
This was mostly due to the laryngitis I've been suffering, its hard to be a street performer when you can't talk. I did some close-up magic for a few people, and gave some balloon animals to a few kids ... but I didn't even attempt to build a tip, I didn't want to stress my vocal cords and not be able to talk for the next month.
I'm more determined now to develop a "silent act". I know magicians like Jeff Sheridan have made a reputation doing this, I just have no clue how to go about it so there'll need to be some brainstorming sessions. Like most Americans, I hate mimes - even more than I hate clowns. So don't worry, you won't be seeing me in white face anytime soon.
I'm going to take some time off, some R&R is in order ... not sure where my next gig will be, but I've got some ideas in mind. I'll keep you posted. Thank you Myrtle Beach for another great summer season!
